Virgin is giving free SIMs away
Up to four free SIMs delivered to your front door
Competition from and between MVNOs in the UK is fierce, and Virgin's latest offer show just how much.
The operator has set up a web page at www.virginmobilefreesim.com from which anybody, current of new customers, can order up to four free SIMS. The offer is open for only 24 hours and Mobile Europe will follow up with Virgin to see how many SIMs are ordered in that period.
From an industry point of view, the promotion shows that Virgin is keen to get as many of its SIMs into the market as possible. It has also chosen to market a "400 texts for 10 pounds a month" bundle with the SIM giveaway.
Massive erosion of margins on SMS, as well as voice, has been one of the features of markets where MVNOs have been most active in Europe.
The likes of this offer, nineteen hours and forty-five minutes left to go as we write this, will no doubt be more and more common as MVNOs seek new ways to address new markets.
