T-Mobile introduces Microsoft Push Email

Flexibility is key business benefit

T-Mobile UK has introduced Microsoft Push Email on all its Microsoft Windows 5.0 handset devices, including the MDA Pro, MDA Vario and MDA Compact.

According to T-Mobile, the new service will provide businesses an even wider range of handset devices from the company for customers to pick up email on the move, providing them with greater flexibility for mobile working.

Initially, the Microsoft Push Email service from T-Mobile will be available to customers using Microsoft Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2. Users are automatically alerted for access to incoming email, and there is no need to ask the device to retrieve new emails as they are delivered directly from the customer's Exchange Server as and when they arrive.

The service is said to work over GPRS, 3G and Wi-Fi, and does not require any third-party infrastructure. It will also provide users with a faster experience when sending and receiving messages due to enhanced data compression. It offers users additional Outlook properties, including synchronization of tasks, pictures for contacts lists and the ability to search for contacts by using a company's Global Address List (GAL) over the air.

Customers can use T-Mobile's latest tariff, called web'n'walk professional, which offers users unlimited browsing on the internet*, or any other data tariff to access the Push Email service. Web'n'walk professional costs just £17.00 per month (+VAT) or can be added to existing Flext, Relax or Business 1-Plan contracts for just £8.50 per month (+ VAT).

Derek Williamson, Head of Businesss Marketing, T-Mobile UK commented: “The ability for businesses to be able to work when they want is critical in today's business climate. Today, email is an essential tool in any business and we are committed to enabling our customers access to their emails on the move.

“Over the last two years we have seen dramatic growth in the number of businesses offering their employees converged data devices such as the MDA Pro, MDA Vario or MDA Compact. T-Mobile's introduction of the Microsoft Push Email service will offer our customers an even wider range of devices to choose from when looking for an effective, mobile data solution.”
