3GSM 2007: Spain
Thomson and abertis telecom have announced that abertis telecom, Spain’s leading infrastructures and telecommunications service company, is using Thomson’s mobile TV solutions for digital video broadcast to mobile handsets (DVB-H) during the 3GSM show in Barcelona.
Using Thomson’s Grass Valley Opal IP encapsulators, Argos H264 mobile encoders, Jade ESG servers and SmartVision Mobile TV service platform, abertis telecom will broadcast the show’s official TV station, 3GSM TV amongst many others to the show’s visitors on their mobile phones. The service will also include broadcast of five other live TV stations and an Electronic Programme Guide.
Serge Mal, General Manager of Thomson’s Network Intelligence Solutions noted “During 3GSM, Thomson’s DVB-H solutions will be placed in the hands of some of the most important international professionals and thought leaders in the telecoms and broadcast industries. This project demonstrates how Thomson offers a full range of solutions for delivery of mobile TV. Thomson’s SmartVision Mobility TV service platform will manage content delivery, secured access and the Electronic Programme Guide. Grass Valley will be used for mobile encoding signals and multiplexing to combine channels into a single transport stream for broadcasting in DVB-H.”
