3GSM NEWS: Natrindo Telepon Seluler Selects Apertio One to Build Core Network

Rapidly expanding operator uses Apertio to manage growth

Apertio, the leading independent provider of subscriber-centric networks, today announced that PT Natrindo Telepon Seluler, Indonesia, has chosen to build its core network infrastructure around Apertio One-HLR (Home Location Register).  Natrindo has ambitious customer growth plans and selected Apertio One-HLR as the solution to support this expansion.

All subscriber and network data from Natrindo customers will be centralised into Apertio’s single, accessible repository, simplifying the network and providing a single view of the operator’s subscribers, enabling Natrindo to better control its CAPEX and OPEX.

“Apertio One-HLR gave us the flexibility and scalability to meet our rapid growth plans in a controlled and efficient manner, enabling us to deliver a competitive offering to our targeted customers,” said Kusnadi Sukarja, President Director of Natrindo.  The company will also benefit from Apertio One-HLR’s open, software-based architecture, allowing it to grow in a cost-efficient manner and placing it in full control of new service deployment.  This is compared to traditional HLRs, designed for two to three million customers, that are expensive to replace and maintain, with new service deployment taking over 12 months.

“As the industry matures there is growing recognition that the economics of proprietary, hardware-based core networks are inappropriate in today’s telecoms market,” commented Andrew Wyatt, Chief Product Operations Officer at Apertio. “Apertio’s strategy of placing the subscriber at the core of the network is continuing to receive industry support and allows operators, like Natrindo, to go-to-market quickly in a cost efficient manner.”

Apertio One-HLR is part of the Apertio One portfolio of software-based core network products, built on open industry standards, transforming traditional networks by enabling communications operators to place the subscriber at the heart of their business.
