3GSM NEWS: PCTEL's IMS client achieves NeuStar certification
NeuStar has announced that PCTEL's mobile IMS Instant Messaging client has been certified interoperable with NeuStar's IMPS (Instant Messaging and Presence Services). Fully tested within NeuStar's development interoperability program, PCTEL's client supports end-to-end presence functionality for popular Windows Mobile 5 platform devices.
The PCTEL mobile IMS client is compliant to OMA Presence and XDM (group management) standards, and supports the IMS environment by providing SIP protocol-based registration, connection management, presence management, group management and mobile instant messaging (IM) functionality. It is designed specifically for the mobile environment, featuring buddy lists, text and voice messaging, and image and audio file sharing in a convenient format well suited for small mobile devices.
"As the fixed and mobile worlds converge, the industry needs IMS-ready devices and applications. NeuStar's IMPS services and PCTEL's mobile IMS client are convergence-ready. Operators are able to invest in this solution knowing that they are fully interoperable and compliant with the market's latest standards," said Biju Nair, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of PCTEL's Mobility Solutions Group.
"We provide our customers with presence-enabled systems that can be integrated quickly into the operator's IMS infrastructure. By enabling third parties to interoperate with our IMPS systems, we help to meet operator requirements with fully compliant end-to-end standards-based services," said Simon Brown, General Manager of NeuStar's Next Generation Messaging Services.
