Sunrise looks for lift

Performance engineering for 3G network rollout

sunrise TDC selects Actix 3G solution for vendor independence, process automating, customizability and viable solutions roadmap

Actix, the global provider of Intelligent Wireless Performance Engineering solutions, today announced that sunrise TDC Switzerland Corp., the leading independent full service provider of telecommunications services in Switzerland and the second largest operator in the market, has selected Actix’ 3G software to assist in the roll out, troubleshooting and optimization of its 3G network. sunrise TDC Switzerland Corp., selected Actix’ solution because it will enable the operator to more effectively create automated and repeatable processes including management and engineering level reports on the network, identify problems more quickly, have a vendor independent view of key performance indicators (KPIs), and maximize efficient use of engineers’ time.

Actix’ Strategic Alliances division is working with sunrise TDC Switzerland Corp., to customize Actix software’s reporting functionality to meet its exact requirements, including the specifics of its KPIs. Actix’ 3G solution is also enabling client-specific engineering processes and Actix expertise to be embedded in the software – allowing for the most effective mix of sunrise TDC Switzerland Corp., engineers’ expertise and process automation.

Actix’ Intelligent Wireless Performance Engineering solutions are entirely vendor independent and enable operators to analyze raw wireless network data from a mix of network technologies, systems and data collection solutions in fine detail. This gives an end-to-end picture of vital wireless functions and the quality of service delivery from the subscriber’s perspective; it also enables engineers to ‘drill down’ to the root cause of any deficiencies. Some of the operators using Actix’ 3G solutions include: FET Taiwan, Orange France, 3GIS, Hutchison 3G UK, Swisscom, Mobilkom, US Cellular, Verizon Wireless, Bell Mobility, Sprint PCS, and Qwest Wireless.

Thomas Stemmler, UMTS Project Manager sunrise TDC Switzerland Corp., said, ”Actix’ technology is ultimately going to enable us to create a more efficient network and deliver even better service to our customers. One of the reasons why we selected Actix’ software was because it will significantly speed up the process of identifying problems with our 3G network, so that our engineers can focus their time on resolving the cause of any problem rather than spending huge amounts of time working through data just to try and find the problem in the first place. One of our key objectives is its dedication to customer service. Actix’ software enables us to deliver on this objective, and to do it through creating the network that most effectively meets our customers’ needs as well as ours.”

Henry McDonnell, Head of Product Marketing, Actix said, “One of the reasons sunrise TDC Switzerland Corp,. selected Actix’ 3G solution is because Actix has a proven track record in delivering 2G, 2.5G and 3G solutions and also has a viable roadmap of solutions that will continue to meet operators’ requirements into the future. With the continuing increase in complexity of mobile networks and the proliferation of viable network equipment vendors, Actix’ technology including its vendor independence continue to demonstrate that Actix has an expertise-based approach to supporting the rollout, optimisation and ongoing management of mobile networks.”
