Bango integrates with Proximus in Belgium to launch 'on bill' payment of mobile content
Proximus partners with Bango to go off-portal
Bango, the mobile content enabler, has integrated directly with Proximus M-Pay, the Belgian mobile operator's off-portal billing system, so consumers in Belgium can pay for mobile content and services such as ringtones, games, music and videos on their phone bill.
Content providers already using Bango to sell their content in various markets can bill directly in Belgium.
"Proximus is keen to open up its billing system to off-portal traffic and so has chosen to partner with Bango to enable this," said Grégoire van Cutsem, Head of Business Marketing from Proximus. "We have a vibrant mobile content market here in Belgium based on our Vodafone live! offering. We recognise that users want as much choice as possible so we're opening up the world of content to our customers."
Bango enables content owners to market and sell content direct-to-consumer with their own 'browse and buy' shops on the mobile internet. Brands extend the direct, interactive relationship they already have with their consumers in print, broadcast or on the web into the mobile medium with total flexibility on the product offers and pricing.
"Belgium offers an active, sophisticated and multi-lingual market for mobile content providers to target," said Anil Malhotra, SVP of Alliances and Marketing at Bango. "A member of the Vodafone group, Proximus joins Vodafone UK and Vodafone Germany in activating its billing system on Bango to allow its subscribers to pay for off-portal content on their phone bill. So far, over 48 million Vodafone subscribers can use one-click payment via Bango."
"Bango has become the only universal platform that integrates different mobile billing systems from around the world into one service and fills the gap left by the closure of Simpay," continued Malhotra at Bango.
Content owners and brands already using the Bango Service can bill in Belgium with no additional cost to their regular monthly fee. New customers simply register their mobile content through a web service at www.bango.com .
Content providers control the pricing and promotion of their content on-line and keep track of traffic and revenues in real-time through the same web service. Pricing is automatically localized for customers depending on which country they are accessing from.
Bango is the leading direct-to-consumer channel for content providers who want to sell their content directly to end users. Content providers using Bango to sell digital content directly to consumers include The Sun newspaper, Channel 4, Manchester United Football Club, EMI Music and The Times.
