Sympac deploys Starhome for virtual office environment
Starhome today announced that the KPN Mobile-owned
European mobile communications provider Sympac has signed a contract with the company to make use of Starhome’s turn-key solution ‘Virtual Office Environment’ - intended to bridge the gap between fixed PBX and mobile handsets. This innovative concept expands the functionality of a fixed PBX to encompass mobile users, converging telephony services in a single environment.
The Virtual Office Environment enables mobile operators to provide enterprise accounts with a PBX service for mobile handsets that complements their fixed PBX system. One of the main benefits is that corporate users will be able to use a single regular VPN number, typically 4 digits long, to reach the required party regardless of whether the recipient of the call is
by a desk phone, out of the office or out of the country. This is in addition to the main benefits Sympac provides to its customers relating to cost control. Multinational customers will be able to reduce their expenditure on mobile communications by lowering the costs of mobile to fixed and fixed to mobile communication.
Starhome's solution can combine several services on the same platform, providing a single PBX interface for corporate use. In addition, the Virtual Office Environment is based on a combination of SCP and service nodes integrated with the traditional PBX, a novel approach in the corporate
telecommunications market that can be easily modified to suit the flexible needs of the corporate customer.
The Virtual Office Environment supports numerous Starhome features, including global Virtual Private Numbering (VPN), one number, call barring, split billing, call-in control and conference calling, among others. It integrates the disparate communication methods utilised by global corporations and organisations in their daily business.
The Virtual Office Environment enables mobile operators to extend their business potential and increase revenues, and addresses the corporate demand for a unified communications environment
“International corporations are constantly seeking to optimise their organisational services, reduce costs, and improve employee productivity,” explains Brian Stout, Managing Director at Sympac. “One of the key factors in achieving these goals is improved access and communication. The use of
Starhome's Virtual Office Environment places Sympac in a strong position to deliver these real world improvements to our enterprise customers.”
Guy Talmi, Director of Marketing for Starhome, commented: “For too long the enterprise has been managing legacy telephony requirements using a Private Branch eXchange, or PBX. The introduction of the mobile handset as a standard device for conducting business has created a gap between the
services that are provided on fixed telephone lines and the requirements of the now very popular mobile handsets, whose services mesh imperfectly and inconveniently with the fixed PBX environment.”
Talmi concludes: “Virtual Office Environment applies true innovation to this problem. We are pleased to embarking on this new relationship with Sympac, knowing that enterprise customers will be reaping the benefits and convenience of having a range of traditional services - services that they
have become accustomed to - available from a single VPN number.”
