Aperto delivers WiMAX solution to Russia

Aperto's PacketMAX WiMAX Certified gear to be trialed by multiple service providers across Russia: Infoseti to trial Aperto's PacketMAX WiMAX gear throughout greater metropolitan Moscow

Aperto Networks, builder of advanced WiMAX base stations and subscriber units, has announced today that it has successfully shipped its WiMAX Forum Certified  products to Avalcom, Aperto's leading reseller and systems integrator in Russia.

Avalcom has lined up nearly a dozen service providers in various regions of Russia and plans a series of pilot projects and trials over the next three months.  The trials will cover different end user and vertical market segments, from corporate to residential, to public safety and others.  They will also cover a range of geographic areas, including dense metropolitan areas as well as areas where no cable or fiber infrastructure is available.

"We are excited to be leading the effort in bringing WiMAX to Russia with the best-in-class solution from Aperto," said Igor Diadiuk, CEO of Avalcom.  "We believe WiMAX is the best technology for wireless access and we believe our technology partner, Aperto Networks, offers the world's most advanced and most robust WiMAX solutions on the market today."

Infoseti, one of Russia's premier Internet Service Providers, will be among the first recipients of Aperto's WiMAX gear and will trial Aperto's PacketMAX solution in Moscow.

Infoseti, which previously deployed Aperto's PacketWAVE WiMAX-class solution across the greater metropolitan area of Moscow, has amassed a diverse business user base of over 1000 enterprises by delivering a variety of 5.8 GHz high-speed wireless data transmission services, Internet access, Wi-Fi networking, VPNs, videoconferencing and Voice over IP features.

"We have extensively deployed Aperto's PacketWave family of products serving enterprise and residential customers across greater Moscow region," said Alexey Nesterov, managing director of Infoseti.  "They have consistently delivered a high level of performance and have provided solid technical and after sales support.  As such, we are delighted to be among the first operators to trial Aperto's WiMAX Forum Certified gear in Russia even as we continue to expand the network based on PacketWave. We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to offer new services to our subscribers and to realize a reduction in our operating expenses."

The shipment to Russia includes Aperto's WiMAX Forum Certified PacketMAX solution, including the industry's best-of-breed PacketMAX 5000 carrier class base station and the PacketMAX 100 CPE.  The equipment is set to operate in the 3.5 GHz frequency.

"Aperto's WiMAX solutions are a perfect fit for the communications needs of the Russian marketplace," commented Manish Gupta, vice president of marketing and alliances of Aperto Networks.
