T-Mobile strengthens its GSM network in Europe with ip.access picocells
ip.access, a leading developer of in-building wireless picocell solutions, has today announced a major picocell supply contract with leading mobile operator T-Mobile International.
T-Mobile is now deploying nanoGSM, ip.access’ picocell-based solution, to provide dedicated in-building coverage and extended capacity to customers across major GSM networks in Europe. The simple-to-install picocells use existing IP connections to provide cost-effective backhaul to the core network while avoiding the disruption to building fabric encountered with antenna-based solutions.
Dr. Klaus-Jürgen Krath, vice president of radio access network engineering, T-Mobile International, commented, “The low-cost nanoGSM infrastructure is an intelligent solution for indoor coverage. ip.access’ systems will help us to deliver improved performance and quality to our customers.”
Mark Pittick, vice president of sales and marketing, ip.access, added, “T-Mobile International is another important new customer for ip.access. nanoGSM continues to enjoy commercial success by providing optimal coverage and capacity to end users while enabling cellular operators to reduce churn and increase average revenue per user.”
