Cloudmark and Anam collaborate to secure mobile services from message-based fraud and abuse
Joint solution safeguards subscriber satisfaction, and helps enable SMS-based advertising market
Messaging security specialist Cloudmark has teamed up with Anam Mobile, provider of mobile messaging infrastructures, to help mobile network operators address the sharp rise in spam, phishing and virus attacks targeting SMS subscribers.
Such attacks are said to compromise subscriber relations and increase churn as well as creating infrastructural overhead. There is also risk of an increase in abuse detracting from subscriber trust in the operator and limiting the effectiveness of otherwise profitable, legitimate SMS-based advertising. As operators are deploying promotional campaigns, it is critical that SMS inboxes are free from the noise of spam messages so that the subscriber can trust that the message is legitimate.
Anam Mobile designs, develops and sells intelligent mobile messaging service platforms and solutions for 2G, 2.5G and 3G operators. The company´s Smart Services platform forms the base for a range of messaging solutions from core network delivery to enhanced messaging products. Cloudmark claims to equip service providers worldwide with the industry's fastest, most accurate security solutions for filtering spam, virus and phishing attacks. Cloudmark´s Authority solution is deployed to protect over 120M mailboxes from email, as well as email-to-SMS, abuse. With mobile devices a growing target for messaging abuse, providers of trusted SMS services in North America, Europe and Asia are said to be pursuing joint solutions from Cloudmark and Anam.
"The ability to protect SMS consumer and corporate subscribers from malicious, fraudulent attacks has become a fundamental requirement for mobile service providers," says Jacinta Tobin, Vice President Sales and Business Development at Cloudmark. "By working together, Cloudmark and Anam offer an intelligent, complete solution that allows wireless service providers to protect both their brand reputations and revenue streams."
Glen Murray, Vice President Worldwide Sales Marketing at Anam, adds, "Aside from preventing subscriber churn, advanced messaging security protects new operator business models such as mobile advertising and allows subscribers to benefit from legitimate value. An environment of distrust clearly has the potential to preclude the growth of this market. We´re seeing that right now, and as with spam in general, the challenge is falling to service providers to address."
