MACH teams up with Travelling Connect to help mobile operators increase inbound roaming traffic and build subscriber loyalty

MACH, a leading provider of inter-operator solutions to the telecommunications and data industry worldwide, has today announced its partnership with Travelling Connect to help mobile operators increase international roaming traffic and build subscriber loyalty through a reward programme.

The programme enables subscribers who are travelling abroad to earn points or air miles in a preferred loyalty programme each time they make mobile phone calls on a participating mobile network.

The partnership with Travelling Connect enables MACH to offer its mobile operator clients across the world an easy and creative way to create additional revenue streams. MACH uses the data that it already collects as part of its roaming data clearing service, which means that MACH's clients do not have to invest in new technology to set up the service.

Reuben Iversen, Director of Client Solutions for MACH explained: "This programme will increase revenue from in-bound roaming for the operator, which happens when a mobile subscriber travels to another country and has to use a foreign network.

"The partnership with Travelling Connect and the programme itself fits well into our commitment to create new revenue streams for our clients built around our financial and data clearing services. Travelling Connect has a significant user base already, an important asset to our operator clients," he added.

If one of MACH's operator clients decides to launch the programme they will be able to introduce it to the market much faster than if they had to develop their own system to collect and handle the clearing of data.

For someone travelling abroad, making a phone call suddenly becomes more appealing when they can also earn points or air miles on their preferred loyalty programme. Not only does the scheme provide subscribers with an added incentive to use the mobile phone, it also creates extra revenue for the network operator.

Travelling Connect chose MACH as their partner because it has the infrastructure needed to support the programme. MACH can manage the exchange and clearing of data across networks giving the mobile operators an easy and quick road to market for the new loyalty service. MACH provides the information about the subscriber's roaming usage to Travelling Connect; that serves as a single point of contact between the participating mobile operators and the loyalty programmes of major airlines and hotel chains.

Marc Jurgens, the Marketing Director, Travelling Connect, commented: "The operators become a more attractive choice for a mobile user that is also a member of Travelling Connect, as they may choose a particular network in order to boost their quota of points or air miles. Our loyalty partners include some of the world's leading loyalty brands such as Hilton, Marriott, Malaysia Airlines and Air France/KLM.

"MACH's strong position in the mobile operator industry made it an attractive partner to us, as we now have the potential to offer the loyalty programmes to subscribers of MACH's mobile operator clients worldwide", said Marc.

To earn points or miles the subscribers can register with Travelling Connect online or via SMS. All they need to do is choosing their preferred loyalty programme and then manually switching their phone to the participating mobile network when they travel abroad.
