CETECOM upgrades test systems with Anite SAT(A) platform

Extends test case coverage for GERAN and UTRAN protocols in Germany and Korea

Anite, a leader in testing technology for the wireless industry, has announced that CETECOM, a leading global wireless communications test house, has deployed two new Anite SAT(A) test solutions in Essen, Germany and Seoul, Korea, to support ongoing conformance and interoperability testing for 2G (GERAN) and 3G (UTRAN) mobile devices.

Complementing an existing portfolio of Anite test solutions, these new systems provide the most comprehensive offering for testing the HSDPA and HSUPA protocols in mobile handsets and will enable CETECOM to offer multi-frequency band and multi-RAT testing, including handover, on the same platform. The upgrade to the Anite SAT(A) solutions positions Anite as the sole 3G (UTRAN) protocol test platform provider in CETECOM’S Korean labs.

Handsets destined for the US market require compulsory PCS Type Certification Review Board (PTCRB1) certification. Anite’s SAT(A) solution is unique in satisfying PTCRB requirements for both 2G and 3G ensuring that all handsets tested using the Anite systems in CETECOM’s Seoul and Essen labs are certified for the US market.

“Our mobile device customers expect us to offer a wide range of services that will assist them in getting their products to market both quickly, and to fully certified standards,” said Dr Klaus Matkey, Managing Director, CETECOM. “We’ve been investing in Anite solutions for many years and are certain that the protocol test cases that they offer us are amongst the best and widest in the industry. Our collaboration with Anite gives us and our customers confidence that their handsets will meet full type approval across a wide range of protocols.”

“CETECOM is one of the world’s leading test houses and has achieved this position by constantly updating its solutions and systems to remain at the forefront of device testing in the mobile communications industry,” said Paul Beaver, Director of Marketing, Anite. “Building on its previous Anite deployments, CETECOM has again recognised the value that it can bring to its customers by offering the most up-to-date protocol test solutions. Anite itself is committed to constantly maintaining its test case leadership position and looks forward to a strong and continuing partnership with CETECOM.”
