Bouygues Telecom selects Miyowa MoveMessenger for its Java mobile instant messaging service

Miyowa, a European specialist in mobile instant messaging and entertainment services, has announced that it developed the mobile Java version of Windows Live Messenger, which has been launched by Bouygues Telecom.

The new agreement means that Bouygues Telecom customers will be able to use Windows Live Messenger, the most popular instant messaging service in France, on their mobile phone, with Miyowa's universal mobile instant messaging technology, MoveMessenger. In addition, customers will also be offered access to the world's leading free web mail, Microsoft Windows Live Hotmail , from their mobile handset from the autumn this year.

To date, fifteen mobile operators use MoveMessenger around the world. Designed to provide an end-to-end service, which incorporates content distribution and advertising capabilities, together with detailed billing information, MoveMessenger has become the mobile instant messaging service of choice amongst European operators.

Olivier Laury, director of i-mode and content for Bouygues Telecom said: "Miyowa's technology enables us to offer customers best-of-breed instant messaging. After the success of the i-mode version of Windows Live Messenger, which boasts almost 100,000 users, we are delighted to be able to offer all of our customers access to Europe's leading mobile IM brand."

Stéphane Hareng, VP strategic marketing & customer operations commented: "Miyowa's mobile IM is exactly what mobile operators want because it matches perfectly with the needs of mobile consumers. Easy-to-use, and function-rich, MoveMessenger is proven, versatile and enables future proofing of requirements."

Until the end of September, Bouygues Telecom is offering embedded Windows Live Messenger free-of-charge for new customers with selected handsets (Sony Ericsson Ripcurl Z710, Sony Ericsson W200 Walkman and Nokia 5200).
