SMS Mac selects TynTec for global SMS traffic

Mobile messaging operator TynTec has today announced that it has been selected to provide back-end SMS capabilities to SMS Mac, a Mac/PC-to-SMS service.

Under the deal, SMS Mac will use TynTec to enable the SMS sending capabilities of its Mac-based Dashboard widget, address book plug in, Vista sidebar gadget and Windows XP Yahoo! Widget.

An Apple Dashboard Widget Contest Winner, SMS Mac is an easy-to-use, downloadable PC/Mac-to-SMS service, enabling users to send SMS from their computer's desktop.  SMS sent via the service are charged at a flat rate of €0.10 each with a €10.00 annual subscription charge for use of the software.

SMS Mac selected TynTec for its global reach into more than 430 mobile networks in 160 countries.  In addition, TynTec can offer SMS Mac's users unparalleled reliability through its unique multiple points of deep level (SS7) mobile network access.

Alco Blom, CEO, SMS Mac, said: "TynTec offers us excellent connectivity into almost every mobile network worldwide, and that's a major selling point for a service like ours.  When you combine that with TynTec's renowned reliability and great technical support, then selecting them became an easy decision for us to make."

Michael Kowalzik, CEO of TynTec, said: "SMS Mac is about letting computer users send and receive SMS quickly and easily direct from their desktop.  We believe that SMS as a messaging technology has much more to offer than just the traditional handset-to-handset format we've seen to date and SMS Mac is a fantastic demonstration of this."
