UIQ Technology today announced the availability of UIQ 3.3. The latest release of the software is intended to offer mobile phone manufacturers more opportunities to differentiate and diversify their product portfolios, offering operator services and extending UIQ into the mass market.

Microsoft Mobile drops Nokia hint

Nokia is licensing so much Microsoft technology to put into its phones, it might as well sign up to a full Windows Mobile license and save itself some money, according to Microsoft’s mobile communications business international marketing director John Starkweather.

Sony Ericsson's Flint defends demand for independent UIQ

Independence Day 

Sony Ericsson ceo Miles Flint has told Mobile Europe that he thinks there is space in the market for an independently owned UI software platform for an open OS – and that that platform is UIQ.

Flint said that Sony Ericsson remains committed to opening up ownership of UIQ, which it bought out from Symbian and currently owns entirely.
