Orange gets energised with M2M Sensile deal

    -

Orange’s enterprise arm is upgrading energy telemetry player Sensile Technologies’ network to cover 3G and LTE devices.

The three year deal will see Orange Business Services future proof Sensile’s remote monitors of oil and gas meters. The company currently tracks consumption of more than 60,000 tanks across business and industrial sectors in 60 countries.

Sensile’s network is currently powered by 25,000 SIM cards running on 2G. GSM is used to send tank level measurements to the cloud, where data is automatically processed.

By giving up to date tank measurements, oil and propane companies can arrange deliveries automatically and maximise energy effiencies by lowering logistics costs. Customers can also track oil or gas consumption by using a smartphone app.

Anne-Sophie Lotgering, Senior Vice President Europe, Russia & CIS, Orange Business Services, said: “With its telemetry solutions Sensile Technologies is helping drive the latest revolution in industry. In Industry 4.0 every part of the enterprise and each phase of the manufacturing cycle will be connected.

“The Internet of Things (IoT) and M2M play a key part in this revolution, and we manage 10 million connected objects for our customers worldwide, including over seven million active SIM cards.”

Orange has been one of Europe’s most active players in the Internet of Things space, implementing and trialling a range of different technologies. As well as testing NB-IoT, it is also looking to roll out LoRa-based networks across France.
