Vodafone Romania has launched dual-band carrier aggregation across the country as well as broadened its LTE coverage.
The operator has also become the latest to break through the 1GBps barrier through carrier aggregation lab trials.
Its LTE-Advanced network is available across all 41 of the country's county capitals, Bucharest and 330 locations. The operator added its LTE network now covers 3,500 localities.
Catalin Buliga, Technology Director, Vodafone Romania, said: “Following the past two years’ consistent investments, our network has evolved significantly and now leads in leveraging the 4G+ technology for the benefit of our customers. We now launch Supernet™4G+ and provide higher speeds, the best mobile experience for HD video, as certified by the independent auditor P3 Communications, deeper indoor coverage and enhanced security.
"By mastering the 4G+ technology and our advanced mobile infrastructure, we were able to cross the barrier of 1 Gbps download speed in our tests. We have reached 1.35 Gbps, far ahead of what today terminals can sustain."
To mark the launch, it is offering unlimited LTE-Advanced for free to customers in Cluj-Napoca and Iasi between 5 September and 5 October. Customers taking advantage of the Supernet 4G+ City service will also get access to video content from HBO GO, music through Zonga and Microsoft's Office 365.
