HSL’s 2.75G femtocell unveiled and GSM 900Mhz band support announced

    -

Hay Systems Ltd, an independent mobile network operator and provider of mobile services and infrastructure, has unveiled its HSL 2.75G femtocell device and announced additional GSM band support for the femtocell at the GSMA Mobile Asia Congress in Macau. The femtocell will be available in Q1 2009 and this is the first public unveiling of the GSM/GPRS/EDGE femtocell device.

Femtocells create new opportunities for mobile network operators including improvements to the quality of the subscriber experience, the opportunity for new services, lower CAPEX and OPEX, and cheaper calls for subscribers.

Mass manufacturing of the HSL 2.75G Femtocell supporting the GSM 1800Mhz band will commence in February 2009. Work has now commenced to add further GSM band support which is expected to result in a GSM 900Mhz band device being available to customers in June 2009.

Once available the femtocell will provide GSM, GPRS and EDGE support to enable mobile services including voice, SMS and data to be provided to subscribers using 2G and 3G mobile handsets. The device will be made available to mobile network operators for supply to end users in residential and enterprise markets.
