Viaccess, a France Telecom company and specialist in conditional access and RRD, the world's first DVB-H service integrator, announced today an end-to-end mobile TV security solution, based on the OMA BCAST SmartCard Profile standard.
The joint offering ensures full interoperability between the Viaccess purple-TV conditional access system and the RRD ready to deploy, multi provider end to end architecture. The OMA BCAST Smartcard profile protects mobile TV services via the use of a SIM card. The success of this trial will allow OMA BCAST compliant handsets to access premium mobile television services.
Viaccess's Conditional Access System dedicated to OMA BCAST Smartcard Profile standard handsets provides enhanced security and security management, thus reducing SIM management costs for Mobile Operators. This solution is compatible with any handset compliant with OMA BCAST Smartcard Profile. This solution takes advantage of the outstanding experience of Viaccess in the pay TV business and the related security challenges.
RRD has provided for the past three years full amanaged service to 3 Italia and for its DVB-H service. In addition, RRD has provided the design, planning and deployment of the nationwide DVB-H network with coverage for 40 million people in Italy, 75% of the Italian population. Currently RRD operates in several geographical areas in the world with activities such as business consultancy, system integration and system deployments in all fileds of digital broadcasting.
