Bics provides launchpad for OTT/ A2P SMS services

    -

Global wholesale carrier Bics has launched a new cloud platform to help app developers and small-scale service providers launch international SMS services.

EasyConnect offers an entry-level solution allowing OTT players, application to person (A2P) providers and SMS aggregators to manage their SMS services through the cloud.

The platform offers administrative tools for SMS pricing, invoicing and payment monitoring while also giving service providers access to 800 destinations on Bics’ global network.

Bics said the “simple and straightforward” solution would allow smaller players in the OTT/ A2P market to quickly launch SMS services for customers at a lower cost.

The solution follows in a similar vein to Bics’ VoIP solution, launched in 2010, in that it gives providers lacking a “large network footprint” the ability to launch high-quality communications services, Bics said.

Bart Vandekerckhove, Head of Mobile Messaging at Bics, said: “Bics is committed to providing the highest quality international communications services to players of all sizes. The EasyConnect platform gives smaller businesses access to BICS’ network of direct routes and complete portfolio of comprehensive SMS services, providing them with a reliable and easy way to terminate their SMS messages worldwide.”

In January, Bics and Openmind Networks launched a hosted platform for operators looking to deploy rich communication services.

The company also recently partnered with Swisscom to bring data roaming to Switzerland’s rail services.
