Vodafone CTO to join FireEye board

    -

Vodafone Group CTO Steve Pusey is joining security company FireEye as a director, as he gears up to leave the UK-based operator.

FireEye works on preventing security breaches and partnered with T-Systems last year to develop an enterprise focused managed security service.

Pusey was a key player in launching Vodafone’s multibillion pound investment programme Project Spring, which aims to improve its network performance globally. He sat on the board of the operator since June 2009 and also served as Vodafone’s representative board member for Verizon Wireless. He is due to leave the operator next month. *LINK

He previously spent 24 years at Nortel Networks, latterly as its Executive Vice-President and President for its Europe, Middle East and Africa business.

David DeWalt, CEO and chairman of the board of FireEye, said: “Steve Pusey is that rare breed of business leader who combines strategic technology insights with the proven ability to connect with customers across international markets. Cyber security is clearly a global challenge, and Steve’s insight and experience will be valuable assets as FireEye works to solidify its position as the security industry leader in protecting against advanced cyber attacks.”

Pusey added: “I’ve seen first-hand the security challenges facing organisations in Europe and other regions worldwide. With a growing community of international strategic partners and a network of security operation centers, FireEye is clearly committed to fighting this battle on a global scale. I’m excited to have the opportunity to offer my experience and perspective as the FireEye leadership team continues this mission.”
