Play ramps up broadband stakes with free fibre bundle

-

The Polish operator responds to Orange’s year without a fibre subscription bundle announced in March

Play is offering subscribers 8 months free for a super-fast fibre package bundle with television. The offer applies to a 24-month contract and includes access to 212 channels and popular streaming services.

The move follows Orange Polska’s move to offer new subscribers signing up to its 8Gbps fibre services Extra TV for free for 12 months. That Extra TV package includes 206 channels with fibre (159 Extra + 47 Basic). Those opting for plans up to 600Mbps, 1Gbps or 2Gbps receive 6 months free. New customers signing a 24-month fibre contract also receive Netflix (Basic plan) free for 3 months.

Play’s new set of bundled services are aimed at delivering high-speed internet, television, and digital extras at competitive prices for its mobile customers. The offer combines Play’s mobile services with fibre internet and an pretty large TV package, with discounts that waive subscription fees for several months.

Customers who already use Play’s mobile services can now add fibre-optic internet with speeds of up to 600Mbps, 1Gbps or even 8Gbps, bundled with TV, and benefit from zero subscription fees for the first eight months. This offer is designed for households with high data demands such as remote work, online gaming and concurrent device usage.

For those who prefer only fibre or only TV, Play is also offering a separate promotion that provides up to six months without fees for customers taking either service on its own. This makes it possible to try out Play’s home services at no cost for half a year.

Subscribers who choose the TV and fibre package from speeds of 600Mbps upwards gain access to a lineup of 212 television channels, along with streaming services SkyShowtime, FilmBox, and Cinemax. Those opting for even faster internet can also access Amazon Prime as part of their subscription. Some packages include Netflix, and the combined offer with fibre starts from PLN 60 per month once the promotional period ends.

Play is also addressing online safety with a free one-month trial of its Internet Protection service, which can be activated with any fibre plan and covers up to five devices, offering security for the whole household.

Holding steady

At its recent Q1 results, Play said further “intensive expansion” of its fixed network and cooperation with wholesale partners allowed it to extend the reach of home services to 10.7 million households. Its subscriber base for home services (internet and TV) increased by 1.8% YoY and at the end of the first quarter of 2025 amounted to over 2.1 million. Q1 revenues from home services increased by 1.7% year-on-year to PLN 514 million.

While the operator’s mobile revenues still drive results – revenues from mobile services increased by 9.1% year-on-year to PLN 1.3 billion and active mobile customers reached over 13.3 million – bundling it going to prove even more popular for getting mobile customers to sign up for the fibre internet and TV packages. And this makes it even more important for Play to respond to Orange’s new bundles.

Poland has some of the lowest retail broadband prices in the EU, which helps boost competitiveness. However, actual fibre take-up is lower than the EU average which means the operators are compelled to make fibre more attractive, leading to more competitive bundles appearing.
