Expectation is that the modernisation will enable greater automation, new business models, especially to monetise 5G, and readiness for future services
Proximus has chosen Nokia to modernise its online charging system and core voice network, adopting cloud-native solutions for better automation and to support new business models. All the new Nokia solutions are to be deployed on Proximus’ own cloud with Red Hat OpenShift, the hybrid cloud application platform powered by Kubernetes.
The operator will migrate its entire customer base (fixed and mobile), and more than 1,000 products, to Nokia Converged Charging, replacing the existing charging system.
Proximus will also implement Nokia’s Voice Core, Subscriber Data Management and Policy solutions to improve network automation and allow more flexible scaling as part of the operator’s shift to autonomous networks and the launch of services to monetise 5G.
