Qualcomm has appointed Sergio Buniac as executive vice president and group general manager of Mobile, Compute and Personal AI, effective from 2 September.
Buniac will oversee Qualcomm’s smartphone, personal computer, smart wearable and XR businesses, after spending over three decades at Motorola, where he held senior roles in strategy, product, sales, marketing, operations and supply chain.
He will report directly to President and CEO of the semiconductor company, Cristiano Amon.
Amon said: “Sergio is a proven business leader with more than 30 years of experience in the mobile industry. “He has a strong record of driving innovation, transforming and growing businesses, and leading through significant industry transitions.”
“Sergio also brings expertise in building compelling consumer devices from design to commercialisation, globally.”
His move to Qualcomm comes as the company continues to expand Snapdragon into areas such as personal computers, wearables and AI-powered devices.
“We are pleased to have Sergio join Qualcomm and he will be instrumental as we expand experiences powered by Snapdragon platforms in the age of agentic AI,” Amon added.
