Deutsche Telekom expands AI phone range in 9 European countries

T-Phone 3 Pro phones go on sale on 14 October with option of cost of handset bundled into the monthly bill, otherwise €229

Deutsche Telekom’s Magenta Telekom brand will offer will offer its AI-Phone Pro from 14 October in nine European countries as the T-Phone 3 Pro. The cost of the handset can be covered in subscribers’ monthly bill, with no charge up front or its costs €229. Tariff details are yet to be published.

This is part of Deutsche Telekom’s drive to replace smartphones and apps with AI-powered functionality, announced at MWC 2024.

Other family members

The Pro model comes with the Perplexity Assistant and PicsArt integrated into the camera. It joins two other AI-powered devices offered by Magenta Telekom – the AI-Phone for €149 and the AI-Tablet for €199, both launched in August – but has improved hardware, more features and a higher eco rating.

The Perplexity Assistant can “answer questions and provides support in everyday life – whether as a personal AI assistant, finding recipe ideas, telling a bedtime story, or translating texts”, according to the press statement. It can also recognise objects in front of the camera and interact with screen content.

While the Perplexity Assistant is a permanent feature on the new phone; the Perplexity Pro subscription last the 18 months. Customers get a 12-month Picsart Pro licence with 500 additional credits per month for designing custom avatars and backgrounds to make editing images “child’s play”. Magenta says the images are “pin-sharp” thanks to the triple camera.

The phone will be available in Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia on 14 October, and in North Macedonia on 20 and Montenegro on 23 October.
