Vodafone Germany launches tariffs for 5G network slicing

Billing is based on a flat rate per location starting at €2,000 per month but customisation will increase that 

Vodafone has become the first telco in Germany to launch standardised tariffs for 5G network slicing, aiming to make the technology more accessible to businesses of all sizes. The move introduces two new options – Campus Flex Exclusive and Campus Flex Starter – that it says provide enterprises with a form of “network insurance” to secure stable connections for critical applications. Traditionally, setting up such services required significant time and customisation, but Vodafone says the new tariffs offer faster deployment and lower costs.

With Campus Flex Exclusive, firms receive a dedicated slice of Vodafone’s 5G+ network at their own location, effectively creating a private virtual 5G campus network tailored to their requirements within one month. This option, aimed at data-intensive or mission-critical use cases such as automated production or autonomous vehicle control, offers data rates of up to 20Mbps uplink and 80Mbps downlink. The tariff is available from €2,000 per month on a flat-rate basis per site.

The second option, Campus Flex Starter, is positioned as an entry-level service. It provides a preconfigured slice shared between multiple customers and available nationwide, with a data rate of around 1Mbps. Vodafone highlights its suitability for less demanding use cases such as wireless payment terminals at trade fairs and festivals, or push-to-talk communications for emergency services and public transport. The plan is billed per participant at €10 per month on a 12-month contract, or €20 per month with a rolling cancellation option.

This supports our customers in their digital transformation,” said Zoltan Bickel, head of commercial management for business customers at Vodafone Germany.

Vodafone has already trialled slicing in specific projects, such as at major trade fairs where it was used to support innovative applications including the robot dog Spot, and in a collaboration with Chemnitz University of Technology on a 25km test track in the Ore Mountains. However, the launch of Campus Flex marks the first time that network slicing has been made available as a standard tariff in Germany.

The operator has not introduced similar slicing tariffs in other markets to date, making the German launch a first within Vodafone Group. The operator has previously showcased slicing demonstrations internationally, but the move to standard commercial offers represents an important step in bringing the technology into mainstream enterprise adoption.

By offering both an exclusive and an entry-level option, Vodafone aims to extend 5G slicing beyond large industrial deployments to SMEs and event organisers, supporting a wider range of business-critical applications. The telco argues that its simplified approach removes barriers to adoption and positions slicing as a scalable, flexible service for enterprises navigating digital transformation.
