SES has expanded its partnership with Elveo Mobile to help speed up he rollout of satellite connectivity directly to mobile phones and other devices globally.
As part of the expanded partnership, SES will provide Elveo with access to its global satellite and ground infrastructure.
It will also support the company with engineering, operations, regulatory work and its plans to bring the service to market.
The partnership will also allow SES customers to use Elveo’s low-Earth orbit (LEO) network alongside SES’s existing geostationary (GEO) and medium-Earth orbit (MEO) satellites.
According to Elveo, which was formed through the merger of Lynk and Omnispace, combining these networks will create a multi-orbit satellite service that can provide direct connectivity to mobile phones, businesses and government users.
SES CEO, Adel Al-Saleh, said: “Elveo is an agile, forward-thinking innovator, and exactly the type of company we sought as our strategic partner for direct-to-device services.
“SES customers will now have access to premier D2D services, further expanding our multi-orbit connectivity solutions.”
Elveo CEO, Ramu Potarazu, added: “As Elveo, we’re excited to deepen our partnership with SES and get to work.
“This strategic investment will accelerate Elveo’s time to market and bring our D2D solutions to SES customers worldwide. We look forward to working together to advance Elveo’s mission to deliver powerful compute and connectivity to individuals and objects everywhere on Earth.”
