The new government led by Giorgia Meloni backs the creation of a network champion and wants CDP to take over TIM's network infrastructure.

Forza la fibre to Lazio, Apulia and Campania

Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced that infrastructure operator FiberCop has signed an agreement with telecoms operator TLC Telecomunicazioni Srl to speed up the rollout of a fibre optic telco infrastructure for Italy.

Flagship Italian telco TIM said that TLC Telecomunicazioni will use the fibre-optic secondary access network to develop a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) access market in seven municipalities across the regions of Lazio, Apulia and Campania.

FiberCop is partly owned by TIM , who has a controlling interest, along with KKR Infrastructure (the infrastructure arm of private equity fund holder KKR) and Swiss telco Swisscom AG’s Italian telco subsidiary Fastweb. The company is set to enable telecom operators to co-invest in fibre coverage in areas of Italy with limited service.
