As well as extending the current mobile-only service to fixed, the operator will add defending internal vulnerabilities to current protection against outside attacks
Deutsche Telekom (DT) has announced the expanded version of its Security OnNet for business customers’ fixed connections will be available around the end of this year. The operator launched the first level of its protective service for mobile, Security OnNet Basic, in January.
Security OnNet Basic is designed primarily for firms that do not have their own IT departments. It is included in DT’s Business Mobil tariffs at no extra cost, works directly from the operator’s mobile network and does not require separate installation.
“We rely on protection directly from Telekom’s mobile network. Since the launch of Security OnNet Basic, we have protected thousands of business customers from Internet attacks,” says Thomas Tschersich, Chief Security Officer Deutsche Telekom and CEO Telekom Security.
The service has fended off phishing attempts, malicious malware and botnet attacks. So far hundreds of thousands of activities were protected against off as part of the offer and Security OnNet Basic has protected customers from fraudulent websites more than 1 million times.
Mobile and fixed
While the Basic, mobile version of the service protects customers against fraudulent attacks from the outside, “We will soon be adding another stage and expanding it to the fixed network,” says Tschersich. This he describes as protection “from the inside” through the early detection of vulnerabilities to safeguard companies’ data and strengthen their employees’ security awareness.
