Amazon Web Services (AWS) plans to deploy an additional two million Nvidia GPUs across its global infrastructure between 2027 and 2028.
The expansion is part of a expansion of a 16-year partnership between AWS and Nvidia, which will also cover CPUs, networking, AI models, data processing and robotics.
According to the technology giants, the new GPU capacity will support a growing range of workloads, from Agentic AI and scientific research to enterprise automation and physical AI.
This comes as previously AWS announced plans to add more than one million Nvidia GPUs from 2026 onwards. However, the companies said demand has since exceeded expectations, explaining the expanded partnership.
The two companies are also working to bring Nvidia Vera CPUs to AWS. The processors are designed for the computing tasks that support AI agents, including code execution, analytics, data pipelines and orchestration.
Meanwhile, the partnership will also extend to US government workloads.
As a result, AWS and Nvidia plan to build AI factories for federal agencies, including 100,000 Nvidia GPUs running on AWS infrastructure designed for highly classified national-security workloads.
