The Polish operator responds to increasing competition for unlimited 5G mobile internet bundles
Netia has made changes to its mobile internet access offer on the 5G Ultra network – which features speeds of up to 1 Gbps. The operator is now offering customers both a tariff without data transfer limits and tailored packages depending on needs, starting from PLN 10 per month.
Netia is not the first major operator to do so, however. Play already offers unlimited 5G for smartphones, with business plans starting from PLN 50 per month, and also provides an unlimited 5G home internet service. T‑Mobile introduced unlimited 5G for both mobile and home use as early as 2022. Orange also offers a truly unlimited 5G mobile plan through its Orange Flex service, with full-speed access available from PLN 80 per month. Plus, meanwhile, has introduced promotional offers with unlimited 5G access for a limited time on selected postpaid plans, and provides capped-speed unlimited data in some prepaid bundles.
5G usage in Poland significantly increased in 2024, accounting for 22.54% of all mobile users. Netia’s move brings it in line with Play, T‑Mobile and Orange in offering full-speed unlimited 5G, while Plus remains more limited in its approach. Currently, the 5G network of the Plus operator, on which Netia is based, covers over 26 million Polish residents. In many locations throughout the country – thanks to the use of aggregation of two 5G bands and a 4G layer (in the 1800 MHz band) – mobile data transmission of up to 1 Gbps is available.
“The new packages respond to the needs of our customers, analysed by us, primarily in the area of access to the network outside the place of residence,” said Netia head of the offer development team Daniel Domański. “We started building the offer by preparing a proposal for a tariff without a data transfer limit. Our customers need free access to the Internet not only in their home, but also wherever they are currently, e.g. on a plot of land, on vacation or while travelling.”
Netia’s offer also includes four other low-fee tariffs: 10GB for PLN 10; 20GB for PLN 20; 50GB for PLN 40; and 600GB for PLN 60. The new unlimited plan is PLN 90. Customers do not have to have their own device to use mobile internet. As part of the agreement, Netia provides both simple routers and the 5G routers (additionally payable from PLN 10 to PLN 30 per month, depending on the type of device). In addition, the operator offers tariffs featuring access to the Disney+ service – if taken, the price increases by PLN 20 per month.
Netia also offers customers the purchase of devices in a low monthly instalment. Its portfolio includes: tablets, smartwatches, laptops, smartphones, and accessories like speakers or BT headphones. In addition, the operator offers tariffs including with access to the Disney+ service – then this price increases by PLN 20 per month.
