e&’s Group CEO announces departure after six years and record results

Hatem Dowidar is stepping down to be replaced by the CEO of e& UEA, Masood M Sharif Mahmood, from 1 April – e& Group’s net profit for 2025 rose 33.6% to €3.321bn

Hatem Dowidar is stepping down as CEO of the international digital networks and services group e& at the end of March. He has been in the job for six years and will be succeeded by Masood M Sharif Mahmood (pictured above), who has been CEO of e& UAE since 2021.

The announcement about the changes at the top of e& were made alongside e& reporting record earnings for 2025 in which its consolidated revenues of AED 72.9 billion (about €16,814 billion), an increase of 23.1% year-on-year before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation. Consolidated net profits grew to AED 14.4 billion (about €3.321 billion), growing 33.6%, driven by progress across its business verticals. Consolidated EBITDA rose by 21.1% YoY, reaching AED 32.0 billion.

Mahmood will continue in his current role as well as taking on the group CEO position from 1 April from 1 April. He has 25 years’ experience in the communications, investment and tech sectors. e& UAE, the group’s domestic opco, ended last year with 16.3 million subscribers, up by 8.4%.  

Dowidar stated, “It has been an honour to lead e& during a defining chapter in its history. I am proud of what we have accomplished together, transforming our business, expanding internationally and building new growth engines for the future.”

Dowidar joined e& in September 2015, as Group Chief Operating Officer. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer, International in March 2016, and in May 2020, he became the Group’s Chief Executive Officer.
