Rakuten Symphony claims 4x productivity for RAN plans

    -

Single cloud based platform designed to overcome fragmented planning tools, teams and processes

Rakuten Symphony has launched Symworld RAN Commander for automated 5G mobile network planning and optimisation. The company says this has been proven to boost RAN productivity planning by four times.

This is based on an average industry benchmark of 200 to 300 sites managed per radio engineer: operator Rakuten Mobile’s engineers in Japan use the RAN Commander to manage an average of 900 sites.

Symphony says in the 5G era, operators urgently need to scale processes through automation, improve and speed decision-making with richer network and subscriber data, and reduced the time taken for complex integration projects.

    Consolidating on a platform

Narendra Narayana, President, Intelligent Operations Business Unit, Rakuten Symphony, said in a statement: “Network planning and optimization has always been fragmented, with different teams responsible for different parts of the process.

“Symworld RAN Commander offers an integrated approach to RF planning and optimization on a single platform, enabling planning and optimization teams to collaborate closely with advanced tools and technologies as they design, deploy and optimize networks in a more coordinated and efficient manner.”

Symworld RAN Commander consolidates “all aspects of network planning and optimization, consolidating legacy PC-based tools, licenses, and data into one managed cloud native platform” the company explains, taking care of licence management, single user tool installation and dispersed but confidential data.

Calculations and simulations are performed in the cloud, avoiding local processing delays, while offering a customizable approach to network expansion, 5G profitability and business transformation.

Rakuten Symphony recently briefed customers on the Symworld RAN Commander, providing an overview of key features, capabilities and deployment considerations. A replay of the interactive webinar, which includes a product demonstration and Q&A, is available here.
