    Samsung launches world’s first curved display HD Galaxy Round smartphone

    Samsung has introduced the world’s first curved display smartphone featuring a full HD super AMOLED flexible display that is held in place by a contoured casing which fits to the user’s face.
     
    Running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the handset comes equipped with a 5.7-inch display, 32GB memory, 3GB RAM, a Qualcomm Quad Krait 2.3 GHz processor and 13 megapixel camera.
     
    Galaxy Round also comes with new features such as the Roll Effect, whereby users can check information such as date, time, missed call and battery easily when home screen is off; or the Gravity Effect, where visual interaction is created on the device by tilting the screen.

    Other tilt-related functions have been includes, such as the ability to view pictures, videos and a music album list by tilting the handset to the left or to the right.
     
    Samsung is touting one of the key benefits of this new device to be the fact that the large screen can be more efficiently utilised.
     
    Using Multi Window, users can now open more than one application on the phone screen or run simultaneous multiple instances of the same application.
     
    Samsung has a track record of often creating technology just for technology’s sake and this is likely to be the case with the Galaxy Round.
     
    The vendor confirmed that the device has been launched exclusively in Korea and that there are no plans to bring it to any other country.
