Telenor names ex-Nokia CEO to lead IoT board

-

Telenor has appointed former Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark as chairman of its IoT business, Telenor Connexion.

The appointment is part of a wider shake-up of the company’s board and leadership team, aimed at supporting growth and developing new services.

As a result, Lundmark, who previously led Finnish companies Fortum and Konecranes, will take on the role of independent chairman.

Joining him on the board is Ingrid Wistrand, who co-founded Tele2 IoT, where she served as CEO, and later worked as Chief Operating Officer at Deutsche Telekom IoT.

Additionally, Morten Weicher will also join the board representing Verdane, following its strategic partnership with Telenor, which launched in May this year. He brings experience in acquisitions and helping technology companies expand into new markets.

As part of the partnership, the company plans to use the partnership to strengthen its IoT services, reach more international customers and pursue selected acquisitions.

Meanwhile, Dan Ouchterlony, Tom Hvammen and Liv Ingeborg Blekkerud will remain on the board, maintaining Telenor’s involvement in the business.

Telenor Connexion has also appointed Jesper Bruksner as chief HR officer. Bruksner has previously held leadership roles at technology companies Klarna and Kry and will focus on recruitment, staff development and supporting the company’s expansion plans.

Telenor Connexion, CEO, Mats Lundquist, said: “This is the first visible step in the strategic partnership between Telenor Group and Verdane, and it underlines our ambition to accelerate from a strong starting point.

“We are building on a company known for quality, reliability and exceptional customer satisfaction. With the combined strengths of Telenor and Verdane, we have a unique opportunity to bring more innovation to our customers and strengthen our position as a leading global IoT service provider.”
