    New NetCracker suite brings VNFs to the table

    NetCracker has launched version 10 of its products suite, which introduces new virtual network functions (VNFs) for operators wishing to deploy virtualised networks.

    NetCracker 10 provides a unified platform for physical and virtual network infrastructure in order to help service providers migrate customers to virtualised network environments more smoothly.

    The suite incorporates big data, biometrics and analytics tools and allows new applications to be delivered to service providers via the cloud, NetCracker said.

    NetCracker 10 offers a hosted cloud platform allowing service providers to develop open app ecosystems and speed up the time-to-market of new services.

    It also leverages data sources from social networks and “various dimensions of biometric data”, such as facial and voice recognition and fingerprint scanning. NetCracker said this would help service providers “humanise” the customer experience.  

    The company claimed NetCracker 10 offered up to a 40 percent reduction in cost of ownership alongside a 30 percent increase in infrastructure utilisation.

    Last week, NEC and NetCracker completed a PoC for a virtualised customer premises equipment solution with Portugal Telecom.
