    Mobiltel brings HSDPA to Bulgaria

    -

Bulgarian operator Mobiltel, which launched its UMTS network in September 21005, has started operation of its first services over an HSDPA network.

Currently, the UMTS-HSDPA network is operational in Sofia .  Mobiltel plans to expand it to other major cities over the years.

Mobiltel’s first 3G service is video calling, and the company is offering deals on Sony Ericsson’s K600i to market the service. The launch follows an announcement that Mobiltel is Vodafone’s latest Vodafone live! partner, and the HSDPA and 3G network will support live! services.

“The fact that Mobiltel and mobilkom austria are both part of the first five telecom companies in the world who opened a HSDPA network shows the success of the mobilkom austria group family and its commitment to innovation. Mobiltel displayed once more its dedication to the customers by making them part of the future”, said Josef Vinatzer, CEO of Mobiltel.

The main supplier for the HSDPA upgrade was Ericsson.
