An Orange spokesperson said that although the operator already supports Blackberry users, and uses Seven to support its own brand Orange Office Freedom product, the additional support for Windows Mobile 5.0 will allow more businesses to roll out mobile email to more members of their workforce, rather than just senior management.
“It’ s about providing more choice for our customers to deploy the solution that suits them. A lot of companies use Microsoft regulalry and that’s the way they want to go,” the spokesperson said.
Vodafone recently announced it too would be offering enterprises Windows Mobile 5.0 support, alongside the services it has been rolling out based on Visto client/ server software.
Orange said all the devices listed above come loaded with the required Messaging Security Feature Pack (MSFP). For users with pre MSFP Windows Mobile(R) 5.0 devices, Orange provides a free download at www.orange.co.uk/business/corporate.
