A1 Telekom, IBM expand sovereign AI in Austria

-

A1 and IBM have expanded their partnership to give businesses in Austria access to generative AI tools hosted on European cloud infrastructure.

As a result, the partnership will make IBM’s watsonx AI platform available through A1’s Exoscale cloud, allowing companies to develop and deploy AI applications, while also maintaining control over their data.

The move combines IBM’s AI technology with Exoscale’s European infrastructure, with a focus on data sovereignty, security and compliance with regulations such as the EU AI Act, the company revealed.

The partnership will also support AI governance, allowing companies to monitor and document how their AI systems operate.

IBM Austria Managing Director, Marco Porak, said: “Digital sovereignty is a key prerequisite for companies to fully exploit the potential of artificial intelligence. With watsonx, we enable companies to implement AI innovations securely, flexibly, and with future-proofing in mind.

“Together with A1, we are creating a foundation for this on European infrastructure and supporting companies in their digital transformation.”

A1 Deputy Managing Director of IBM Austria, Martin Resel, added: “Our customers expect high-performance AI solutions that meet the highest standards of security, compliance, and data sovereignty.

“By combining Exoscale’s European cloud infrastructure with IBM’s AI expertise, we are creating an attractive offering that enables companies to implement their AI strategy confidently and sustainably.”
