Ericsson has been named as a supplier of the Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) Tactical Communication Systems framework, a major procurement scheme valued at up to £8 billion over eight years.
As a result, the framework is designed to give the MOD and other public sector organisations access to secure and specialist communication, in a bid to help the UK’s armed forces improve how they connect people, platforms and data.
According to the telecoms giant, the move will allow military teams to share information in real time and support emerging capabilities, including multi-domain command and control, uncrewed systems, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) operations.

Meanwhile, future applications could include 5G-enabled sensing for drone detection, AI-driven network automation and more advanced approaches to managing spectrum.
