Nokia has signed a commercial agreement with digital healthcare platform BeeHealthy to bring its Network as Code technology into the apps used by healthcare providers and insurers.
As a result, the partnership will allow BeeHealthy to replace SMS one-time passcodes with network-based number verification, giving patients a quicker and more secure way to access healthcare services on their phones.
The process runs in the background and typically takes less than a second, without requiring users to enter a code, the telecoms giant said.
The deal makes BeeHealthy Nokia’s first commercial customer for Network as Code in the healthcare sector.
However, for mobile operators, it also opens up a new potential use for network APIs by allowing their capabilities to be built directly into consumer applications.
Nokia VP, Network Monetisation Platform, Shkumbin Hamiti, said: “This collaboration shows how Network as Code turns network capabilities into commercial services that create value across the ecosystem – for enterprises, for the operators whose networks power them, and now for a regulated industry like healthcare, which places rigorous demands on security, privacy, and trust.
“As we’ve shown with similar deployments, this is a model that is equally applicable across other sectors, from finance and mobility to digital commerce.”
BeeHealthy CEO, Oskari Eskola, added: “Digital healthcare depends on making access both simple and secure.
“By integrating Nokia’s network-based verification into our platform, we can give customers a faster, more seamless experience while strengthening trust for the providers and insurers we serve.”
