    Nokia breaks new world record for LTE with SK Telecom

    Nokia has once more claimed a new world record speed for LTE, reaching a speed of close to 4Gbps through aggregating 10 spectrum frequencies across 200MHz of bandwidth with SK Telecom.

    The vendor first demonstrated TDD FDD carrier aggregation earlier this year, aggregating spectrum resources on multiple frequency bands of TD-LTE and FDD LTE and showing a 50 to 100% increase in throughput depending on the level of availability of spectrum.

    This time the record-breaking throughput was again achieved using Nokia’s Single RAN solution which includes its Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station together with software to aggregate carriers on both TDD and FDD LTE spectrum and to implement LTE MIMO (multiple input multiple output) technology. At this speed a mobile broadband user could download a 5GB high definition film in under 11 seconds.

    This time the record-breaking throughput was again achieved using Nokia’s Single RAN solution which includes its Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station together with software to aggregate carriers on both TDD and FDD LTE spectrum and to implement LTE MIMO (multiple input multiple output) technology.

    The vendor said the demonstration achieve twice the amount of carriers and bandwidth specified by 3GPP, which suggested aggregating five carriers up to a bandwidth of 100MHz.
