Orange Belgium deploys 5G SA with Ericsson, Nokia and Oracle

    -

Taking a more customer-centric approach to customers on the network

Orange Belgium and partners have deployed “a central and stand-alone 5G network on a cloud-native architecture”. The idea is to demonstrate the potential of 5G and invest in next-generation services like network slicing.

The Orange Belgium technical team is working closely with the Orange Group Innovation Network team, which helped ahead of the deployment and will aid integration. Ericsson supplied the core network, Oracle Communications the signaling network functions and routing.

Nokia is responsible for user data management and the new radio.

The operator says it will now be able to create virtual private networks for enterprises through slicing Orange’s public network. It will also offer hybrid private network based on shared equipment in the Orange network and dedicated equipment on the customer site for flows and critical data.

Stefan Slavnicu, Chief Technology Officer, commented, “We are evolving towards a more customer-centric approach on the network side. We want to pave the way for next-generation services that will be deployed for all our customers, on our own or third-party infrastructures.”
