Proximus NXT extends partnership to digitalise Belfius’ ops

    -

Connectivity and collaboration upgrade will include SASE, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi 6 and Digital Meeting Rooms

Proximus NXT, the enterprise unit of Proximus Group, is renewing its strategic IT partnership with Belfius, the Belgian “bankinsurer” . The three-year agreement, to 2026, will focus on network design, connectivity and collaboration.

Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) is to play a “key role” in Belfius’ workplace and branch connectivity, as a secure approach to support hybrid working.

Proximus NXT will also provide software-defined, wide-area networking (SD-WAN), internet access and cloud connectivity. The operator will also be responsible for LAN and wireless LAN (WLAN) services for Belfius’ headquarters and more than 750 banking and insurance branches across the country.

This includes the switch to new Wi-Fi 6 access points and modernising local networks to support greater mobility for employees.

    Digitalising collaboration

The agreement is intended to enhance digital collaboration across Belfius’ headquarters, regional sites, and branches, mostly by adopting Microsoft Teams Enterprise Voice as its telephony platform. Proximus will also provide Digital Meeting Rooms.

The upgrades will be carried out by a dedicated team of Proximus’ employees working closely with Belfius’ IT teams to prepare for the transition to the new operating model: the contract comes into force next year.

Anne-Sophie Lotgering, Enterprise Market Lead at Proximus, said, “This contract highlights the strength of our gigabit networks and our comprehensive portfolio for enterprises, ranging from connectivity to security and advanced collaboration.

“It is also an important recognition for our teams, who have worked as close and trusted advisors for Belfius throughout the past decade. We are eager to continue to support Belfius in preparing its IT infrastructure for the future and to guide them on their digital transformation and innovation journey.”
