Submer has launched a new company, Corenix, focused on building modular data centre infrastructure for AI.
As a result, the new business will work with neoclouds, hyperscalers and AI operators to design and deliver data centre platforms built around Nvidia reference designs.
Corenix will build and test complete data centre modules in factories before sending them to their final destination. The modules cover the main infrastructure needed to run AI systems, including IT, power, cooling and networking.
Once the modules arrive on site, Corenix will oversee installation, connect them to the wider site infrastructure and carry out testing and commissioning before the facility is ready to operate.
Additionally, the company has appointed Martin Renkis as CEO, who has previously held senior positions at Johnson Controls, where he was General Manager of Global Products, VP of Technolofy Global Products and most recently Executive Director of Data Centre Infrastructure.
Before joining Johnson Controls, Renkis founded Smartvue, an IoT hardware and software company that was later acquired by the company.
Corenix will sit alongside two other companies within the Submer Group. Rubix Data Centres develops and operates AI data centre campuses, while Radian Arc provides GPU-as-a-Service and AI-as-a-Service.
Submer Group CEO, Patrick Smets, said: “AI factories are driving unprecedented demand for new data centre capacity, and the market needs a faster, more predictable way to build it.
“Corenix builds on Submer’s history in modular data centre delivery and the engineering, thermal, and infrastructure expertise we have developed solving high-density compute challenges for years. We are bringing that experience into a dedicated business built to deliver AI infrastructure at scale.”
Renkis added: “Customers need clarity before they commit: what needs to be built, how it will be tested, who is accountable, and when it will become operational.
“That’s the foundation I’m building Corenix on from day one. Corenix puts a dated program and a go-live date on the table before a contract exists. One team stays accountable from factory integration and testing through on-site commissioning and operational readiness, with the same team offering the flexibility to support current and future accelerated computing systems.”
