Syria’s News agency SANA says it affected internet access across the country and is part of a wider, systemic sabotage campaign against Syria’s infrastructure
Alarbiya English reported that Syrian Telecom announcing the international undersea cable between the Port of Tartous (pinned on the map above) and Egypt’s Alexandria had been sabotaged, affecting internet access across Syria.
According to information from Syria Telecom, which is state-owned, relayed by the state-owned news agency SANA, the maintenance of the cable and resumption of services will take time. It did not specify how long. SANA said this act is part of what it described as a “systematic sabotage campaign” against the country’s infrastructure.
