The single, global APN configuration boosts capabilities to ensure device traffic always takes the shortest, most efficient route through the network

Telenor IoT is launching a new Global APN service – a configuration that allows devices to access mobile data services by dynamically connecting to the operator’s nearest IoT’s points of presence (PoP) around the world. The capability is available now to enterprise customers using Telenor IoT’s Managed Connectivity solutions.

Enabling customers to use a single APN across Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas devices simplifies configuration as it avoids multiple, regional APNs. This makes scaling easier, reduces latency and improves efficiency. Telenor IoT supports Standard and Private APN configuarations, depending on customers’ needs.

Telenor IoT says it works with local operator- and peering partners to continuously optimise routing paths, ensuring that device traffic takes the shortest, most efficient route through the network.

The global APN will work alongside existing local break-out options in partner networks with Local Access meaning multiple regional PoPs are also available. The operator claims this gives customers a faster, more resilient data path for regional IoT traffic and better performance for latency-sensitive use cases such as payments, real-time analytics, and industrial automation.

Telenor IoT operates standard PoPs for global IoT solutions in:

  • Europe: Stockholm (Primary), Amsterdam (Failover)
  • Asia-Pacific: Singapore (Primary & Failover)
  • Americas: Ashburn (Primary), Los Angeles (Failover)
