Gigafast Broadband now covers 360,000* more homes in Birmingham, Bristol and Liverpool.
Gigabit speed broadband is now available in 15 UK towns and cities and is scheduled to be made available in 3 million homes and businesses across the UK in the next year.
Vodafone’s Gigafast Broadband service is delivered via multiple partners’ infrastructure.
Working with Openreach
The latest locations to go live are the result of a commercial deal with Openreach, BT’s wholesale access arm, agreed last November.
The service is initially be available to 400,000 premises across the three cities which will rise to more than 500,000 premises by mid-2021 as Openreach builds out its infrastructure.
CityFibre contract
The first 12 towns and cities that gained Gigabit Broadband were due to its long-standing contract with CityFibre, an alternative provider of wholesale fibre network infrastructure.
Vodafone’s full-fibre broadband gives users download speeds on average of 900Mbps, which is not a gigabit, but still is up to 14 times faster than the average fixed broadband service in the UK.
