Vodafone contributes network APIs to tackle fraud via Nokia’s NaC platform

From April, Nokia will include Vodafone’s network APIs in its anti-fraud and authentication products: the vendor’s Network as Code platform already links more than 70 partners

Vodafone and Nokia are making a joint effort to make it easier for developers of 4G and 5G apps to build apps that fight fraud, improve identity verification and boost security. From April, Nokia will include Vodafone’s Network APIs in its anti-fraud and authentication products. The portfolio will evolve to incorporate differentiated connectivity as the partnership progresses. 

The tools will be accessible via Nokia’s Network as Code (NaC) platform to app developers serving businesses, the public sector and consumers. The idea is that by using Vodafone’s 4G and 5G networks, the companies will reduce the cost of adapting apps becaues different versions are not required for each country.

Nokia’s network API strategy is to connect multiple API ecosystems through its NaC platform and already links more than 70 ecosystem partners. They include: Bharti Airtel, BT, Deutsche Telekom, Free, Globe Telecom, Hrvatski Telekom, Orange, Proximus Global, StarHub, Telecom Argentina, Telefónica, Telia, Telstra and Turkcell, plus Google Cloud and Red Hat.

Partners include Google Cloud,According to the vendor, it offers operators a range of integration and enablement options with multi-tier API security, and gives developers simplified access to network functionalities. 

Vodafone also is also part of the Aduna API platform, the joint venture initiated by rival Ericsson. Its latest operator recruit is DOCOMO whose network APIs, developed for the international markets, are to be available through the Aduna platform. The Japanese operator joins AT&T, Bharti Airtel, Deutsche Telekom, KDDI, Orange, Reliance Jio, Singtel, Telefonica, Telstra, T-Mobile and Verizon, as well as Google Cloud and some CPaaS vendors.

Aduna also partners the Bridge Alliance.
